From our own experience, we know how enjoyable it is to take a road trip to Southern Italy. Coming for North Italy, the most pleasant route is to drive through Bologna and take the Autostrada d’Adriatica. Along the way, you can enjoy stunning landscapes, with frequent views of the Adriatic Sea.
Public transport in Puglia is very different from what you’re used to in other parts of Europe.
Trains are reliable in southern Italy.
Buses, on the other hand, are not as dependable.
We strongly recommend renting a car during your stay.
From larger cities like Bari and Lecce, traveling by train is easy and affordable. Puglia’s railway network mainly follows the coastline.
If you want to explore the inland areas, a car is essential.
