The heart of Puglia

Discover unspoiled Italy with its warm and welcoming locals

Villa Gufo is located in the heart of Puglia, in the Itria Valley, surrounded by the Moorish nature reserve. From here, you can explore stunning historic towns such as Ostuni, Lecce, Locorotondo, Alberobello, Cisternino, Monopoli, and many more. The Adriatic coast is just 15 minutes away, and in one hour, you can reach the Ionian Sea.

Ostuni: La città bianca

Ostuni is one of Puglia’s most famous towns. Known as “La Città Bianca” (The White City), it sits beautifully atop a hill, especially when the sun shines on its whitewashed houses.

The locals are required to repaint their homes every year, giving the town a truly fairytale-like appearance.

In the historic center, you can wander endlessly through its countless narrow alleyways, discovering hidden corners and breathtaking views.

The flavors of Puglia

Puglian cuisine is all about fresh ingredients straight from nature. And of course, no meal is complete without a glass of delicious wine. This region is home to Primitivo, the oldest wine grape variety, making it no surprise that we are surrounded by countless restaurants, wineries, and traditional masserias. Dining out is not just a meal here, it’s a way of life in Southern Italy.

What is a masseria?

A masseria is a historic estate or a large old farmhouse. Many masserias around Villa Gufo have been beautifully restored into luxurious restaurants and resorts. Many of them also produce their own wine, olive oil, cheese, or other artisanal products. We’re happy to share our favorite tips and must-visit addresses with you!

Beach & Sea

In just 15 minutes from Villa Gufo, you’ll find yourself at the beach. Puglia boasts over 700 km of coastline, offering everything from crystal-clear waters and rugged cliffs to hidden coves and tropical sandy beaches. During summer, the Ostuni coastline is dotted with trendy beach clubs, but you’ll also find charming local beach bars full of character. Prefer something quieter? Escape to a secluded spot and enjoy pure relaxation.

Torre Pozzelle is our absolute favorite! A mix of small beaches and hidden coves, perfect for cliff jumping and enjoying the stunning coastline. This spot is mostly frequented by locals, giving it an authentic and relaxed vibe.
